Japanese Cultural Exchanges

Over the course of the year, the College plays host to 5 high schools from Japan: Osaka Sendai High School (Osaka), Meisei High School (Tokyo), Seifunankai Gakuen High School (Osaka), Morimura Gakuen High School (Yokohama) and Kashihara High School (Nara Prefecture). The schools visit for the day and take part in various sporting and cultural activities, as well as Art, English and Technology.   Typically, about 120 students and 8 staff attend.  Each visit ends in a concert where the visitors showcase some of the cultural experiences they have enjoyed – the boys performing a haka and the girls demonstrating their newly acquired poi skills.   Both visitors and hosts benefit hugely from the exchange, sharing both culture and life.
