Students in Year 7-8 are with their homeroom class teacher for core subjects - Mathematics, English and Social Studies. The homeroom teacher is the first point of contact for our students. The homeroom classes provide a supportive whānau environment.
Our Year 7-8 students also have classes with specialist teachers including Science, Materials Technology, Graphics, Art, Drama, Food, Environmental Studies, Digital Technology, and Te Reo Māori, as well as Physical Education and Health. This gives our students access to specialist facilities and teachers with a wealth of knowledge for their subject areas.
The Years 7-8 follow a connected curriculum which is designed to lead into Years 9-10 and set the students up with the skills, understanding, vocabulary, and knowledge they will require at their next level of schooling.
Electives are designed to give students the opportunity to try something new and interesting. The students get to choose a different elective each term based on their personal interests. They are learning a lot of new skills and have a lot of fun doing so. These Electives run for 2 hours each week.
