Together We Learn and Grow

Meeting Students’ Diverse Needs

Putāruru College students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular activities such as sport, drama, culture and music. The College offers a rich diversity of programmes for students to get involved in.

Sports Programmes

The College has beautiful grounds with extensive sporting fields. Because of Putāruru’s central location in the Waikato, we are able to enter teams into a wide range of inter-school competitions.

The College employs a sports coordinator who has a vital role in encouraging and organising activities throughout the year. The sports coordinator has a team of Sportsfit leaders – senior students who work with the sports coordinator to organise sporting activities on a daily basis.

In addition, parents play an important role in managing and coaching sports teams and their involvement is warmly welcomed.

Students are encouraged to get involved in sports for the development of their physical well-being, team skills, competitiveness, self-discipline, friendships, commitment to the code and fair play.
