OUR CURRICULUM | TŌ TĀTOU MARAUTANGA
Our Curriculum is designed to be student-centred and learning-focused. From Year 7 through to Year 13, students are exposed to a range of core and optional subjects, leading to National Certificates in Educational Achievement (Levels 1-3). In 2022 we introduced whānau classes and semesters. Semester A is the first half of the year while Semester B is the second half of the year.
Junior School: Students in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 cover all areas of the curriculum. Years 7 and 8 are in core classes, where they enjoy an integrated curricular environment supported with option classes taught by specialist teachers. In Years 9 and 10 students are taught by subject specialists in each curriculum area, including option subjects.
Senior School: Year 11 to 13 students are offered a wide selection of subjects as they begin to specialise in their strengths and interests. Students select 5 subjects to study for the duration of the year, with the aim of achieving at least 14 credits in each subject. Senior students also have the opportunity to enrol in courses run by Toi Ohomai which run over one or two days of the week or sign up to taster courses at Wintec to broaden their career opportunities.
During the Junior years, it is compulsory for your child to participate in CORE subjects. They can however choose 1 option class from the list below.
