Mathematics at Putāruru College helps students grow their problem-solving skills, think logically, and understand how maths is used in everyday life. Students learn about number, algebra, geometry, statistics, and measurement in ways that are practical and easy to apply. Maths helps with confidence in money management, planning, and making sense of data.
In Years 11–13, students can earn NCEA credits through different maths courses that suit their needs and future goals. At Level 1, students can gain up to 20 credits by completing both internal assessments and exams. At Level 2 and Level 3, students can earn around 18–20 credits, including standards that support careers in trades, business, sciences, and university study. Courses are designed to challenge students at the right level while supporting their success.
