HEALTH, PE AND OUTDOOR EDUCATION | TE HAUORA ME TE REO KORI
Health and Physical Education at Putāruru College focuses on the well-being of the whole person – physical, mental, social, and emotional. In PE, students take part in a range of sports and physical activities that build fitness, teamwork, and confidence. Health classes cover important topics like relationships, mental health, nutrition, and decision-making.
Students also have the chance to take part in Outdoor Education, which takes learning outside the classroom. This includes activities like tramping, camping, kayaking, and teamwork challenges. Outdoor Ed helps build leadership skills, resilience, and a strong connection to nature.
In the senior school (Years 11–13), students can gain around 18–20 NCEA credits through Health, PE, or Outdoor Education courses. These subjects support students to grow their personal well-being and develop lifelong skills for both work and life.
