At Putāruru College, students have many opportunities to explore their creativity and celebrate culture through the arts. We offer music itinerant classes, where students can learn instruments with specialist teachers, and we’re proud to have a school band that performs at events like Rockquest. Students can also take part in Showquest, Kapa Haka festivals, and other performances throughout the year.

Our strong Kapa Haka group gives students a chance to connect with te ao Māori, build confidence, and perform proudly as a team. Through subjects like Visual Art, Photography, Graphics, and Toi Māori, students also have the chance to join art exhibitions, gallery visits, and cultural excursions that support and grow their creativity. Whether performing on stage or expressing themselves through visual work, the arts and culture are a vibrant and supported part of life at Putāruru College.
