Our Student Support and Health Centre at Putāruru College is a safe and welcoming space where students can access a range of wellbeing services. From physical health needs to emotional support, our dedicated team is here to help students navigate challenges and maintain their overall wellbeing. The centre provides access to a school nurse, counselling services, and referrals when needed, ensuring every student feels cared for and supported throughout their time at school.
Our school nurse provides essential health services, including medical care, health education, and support for students’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing throughout their time at Putāruru College.

At Putāruru College, we are fortunate to work closely with a range of dedicated Youth Workers who provide support tailored to the needs of each student. They play an active role in our school community, regularly attending camps, events, and activities, as well as engaging with students in class and during lunchtimes. Their focus is on building positive relationships, offering guidance, and supporting the wellbeing of our rangatahi.

Our school counsellor provides confidential mental and emotional support to promote student wellbeing. They are usually available in the Duty Room or the Health Centre, and students can also make an anonymous request to meet with them through Student Services.
We also have an Alcohol and Drug Counsellor on-site once per week.

Aside from the services above, our Student Services team is always available to support students with any concerns or enquiries. The Health Centre also includes a sick bay, where students can rest if they are unwell, need a break, receive basic first aid, or come for support if they are unsure who to approach.
