LEADERSHIP | RANGATIRATANGA

Leadership is an important part of student life at Putāruru College, and we offer many opportunities for students to step up, grow in confidence, and make a difference. Students can take on roles such as Head Students, Senior Student Leaders, and Peer Support Leaders, where they help guide younger students and contribute to school events and culture.

We also have a Student Representative on the Board of Trustees, giving students a voice in school decision-making. Throughout the year, students are encouraged to take part in leadership conferences, workshops, and lead other events that help build communication, teamwork, and responsibility. At Putāruru College, we believe every student has the potential to lead in their own way.

OUR STUDENT LEADERS

Our Year 13 student leaders and peer support team play an important role in building a positive, inclusive culture at Putāruru College. These students take on leadership responsibilities that help guide and support their peers, especially our junior students as they settle into college life.

Year 13 leaders are encouraged to mentor and connect with younger students—fostering friendships, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging. Whether helping staff with school events, leading activities, or being a friendly face around school, our senior student leaders show initiative, empathy, and pride in being role models for the rest of the school.
