Sport is an important part of life at Putāruru College, and we offer a wide range of opportunities for students to get involved, stay active, and build teamwork skills. Students can take part in sports such as turbo touch, athletics, hockey, basketball, rifle shooting, volleyball, tennis, and golf through the school. We also support students who play rugby, netball, and soccer through our strong links with local community clubs.
Our school is well-equipped with excellent facilities, including a large gymnasium, a pavilion, full-sized rugby and soccer fields, and a modern multi-purpose turf used for hockey, football, basketball, and netball. We also have additional tennis/netball and basketball courts available for both school and competitive play. Whether students are playing for fun or aiming for high-level competition, there’s a place for everyone to get involved in sport at Putāruru College.
During interval and lunch, you’ll find a range of sports equipment set up on the netball courts, the field, and outside the library. From skipping ropes and paddleball to cricket and basketball, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
