TRANSPORT OPTIONS

​Vehicle Permits

If your student has expressed an interest in applying for a Student Driver Permit, please contact Student Services for a Student Driver Permit Agreement/Application Form. 

A student driving to school must:

  • Have an appropriate licence, have parental permission and drive in a safe and responsible manner
  • Have completed and signed this Student Driver Agreement
  • Drive a roadworthy vehicle with current registration and warrant of fitness
  • Not carry passengers unless holding a full licence and have the express permission of the school, parents and passengers parents 
  • Not use their vehicle during the day unless parental and/or principal permission has been given 
  • Notify the school if their licence is suspended or cancelled

Vehicles are parked at the owner's risk and the school cannot be held responsible for any damage.

Students can park along Junction Street, student's are not allowed to park in the staff/visitors car park.

Bus information

School buses are available for students that live out of town. It is important students are on the correct bus list and let Student Services know if there are any changes. Putāruru College runs their bus service through EasyBus, please contact them directly to add a stop or change the route for your students. If you have any concerns related to buses or behavior on buses, please contact Mr Moore or Student Services. 

Bikes and Scooters

If your student chooses to bike or scooter to school, they must wear a helmet and park in the designated areas. Please ensure they are familiar with the road rules and encourage them to use good judgment to stay safe while travelling.

Please note: Students who choose to bike or scooter to school do so at their own risk.

ATTENDANCE 

Putāruru College needs to know if your student is going to be absent. Please contact us as soon as possible (or prior if you know before the date) with the date of absence and the reason for the absence.

If you are calling and there is no answer, please leave a voicemail and specify the following details:

  • The student’s first and last name
  • The student’s whānau teacher
  • The reason for the absence e.g. illness, out of town appointment

If we are not contacted, Student Services or the Truancy Office will contact the caregiver directly.

SCHOOL LUNCHES

We provide nutritious lunches every school day for all our students. Our goal is to ensure they are in the best possible condition to learn and to remove barriers to participation and achievement in education.

Lunches can be collected from the school canteen at interval and lunchtime, and include both morning tea and lunch. If you have any dietary requirements, please let our team at Student Services know.

BREAKFAST CLUB

The KickStart Breakfast Programme is a joint initiative between Fonterra, Sanitarium, and the Ministry of Social Development. It’s designed to support student well-being by providing access to nutritious food at school.

Our Breakfast Club helps students start the day right. Breakfast is available from 8:00am each morning in A1. We encourage students to stay, eat, and connect with others over their meal. If your student has any dietary requirements, please contact Ms Duthie in A1.

Please note that we do have a late start on Tuesdays, starting at 9 am. The bus times, however, stay the same.

UNIFORM AND STATIONARY

The Putāruru College uniform includes boys’, girls’, and unisex items. All uniform pieces must feature the school logo and are available for purchase through Student Services only. If your student is wearing an incorrect uniform, please send a note with them or contact Student Services directly via email or phone.
